According to the results of a survey conducted by ChannelAdvisor, many European retailers who are planning to expand internationally within the next two years still view the EU as offering the best e-commerce opportunities.
The research, carried out at the Catalyst Europe 2013 e-commerce event, which took place on 3rd and 4th June in London, found that 17% of European retailers are planning to expand their operations into Asia within the next two years while 21% expect to expand into the North American market. An additional 13% of European retailers covered by the survey have current plans to expand into South America.
In terms of their current activities, 17% of retailers are already active in Asia, 34% in North America and 23% in South America. This compares to the percentage of EU-based retailers who describe themselves as already “very active” in the home markets of the UK (91%) and other EU countries (71%).
