Among leaders in the use of unlicensed software in Ukraine are the largest state agencies
The issue of illegal content, according to experts, is easy to solve, but the Ukrainian government is in no hurry to deal with it. In addition, the leaders of the use of unlicensed software in Ukraine are state agencies.
The problem of piracy is a technical problem, not political. This was stated by Director General of "Microsoft Ukraine" Dmytro Shymkiv at the round table "Ukraine - the intellectual pirate No.1, causes and consequences."
According to Mr.Shymkiv, the problem is first of all place connected with the state, that does not want to pay for software and regulate the issue.
Mr.Shymkiv added as well that Ukraine is the only country where Microsoft has no agreement on the use of software by government agencies.
He underlined that among leaders in the use of unlicensed software in Ukraine are the largest state agencies - Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tax Administration and Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, most of software used by the National Bank of Ukraine is used legally.
Microsoft estimates its losses from more than 500,000 pirated copies at $200 million.
