PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit BankTM, informs clients on security measures when using cards
On the night of the 5/6th June a fact of fraud with the cards of PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit BankTM was fixed.
The precedent happened after the Bank’s Security Service found a fact of using scanning device installed at one of ATMs of the network. Thanks to the Bank’s usage of an up-to-date system of on-line monitoring, the risk that fraudsters would use the stolen information was minimal. However, a number of card holders suffered.
The Bank has developed and implemented a procedure of reimbursing the losses towards payment card holders in case of unauthorized operations. Currently all the applications of the holders are in process of consideration and the money will be returned to the card accounts in the nearest two weeks’ time. All the cards, which were exposed to the fraud attack, would be re-issued and delivered to the holders free of charge.
PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit BankTM, makes an apology for inconveniences, experienced by the clients, whose accounts were under threat, and appeals to all the ATMs users with a request to carefully read and further follow the recommendations on card usage in ATMs:
Besides the quoted advices at the official web-site, the bank recommends to use a simple security measure, which could help to prevent an unauthorized usage of a card by fraudsters: when entering pin-code in ATM one should cover the input panel with a free hand. The scanner devices, as usual, are placed from above the ATM perimeter.
Also, in case of detecting any suspicious devices on the ATM, one should immediately inform Bank’s Contact-Center.
The Bank also recommends to use sms-banking service, which will help to monitor the movements on the card and will timely notify the holder of unauthorized actions with the card.
PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit BankTM, regretfully informs that the quantity of fraud attacks is growing in the world. However, the Bank is working hard to improve its security system and to develop and implement up-to-date measures to prevent card frauds and to carry out their monitoring, which have currently become one of the best in the country.
