During a year hackers stole from bank accounts more than UAH 100 million
Losses of Ukrainian bank clients - legal entities in 2012 and Q1 2013 in the result of actions of cyberfraudsters that used remote banking systems reached over UAH 150 million.
According to UNIAN correspondent, that figure was named by the deputy head of the cybercrime fighting department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Timchenko within framework of the round table "Current issues of financial monitoring in the banking system of Ukraine", that was initiated by the Independent Association of Ukrainian Banks.
According to Mr.Timchenko, in 2012 the law enforcement authorities revealed 139 facts of intervention in the work of remote banking systems aimed at theft of funds. As a result of these actions legal entities - bank customers have lost UAH 116 million. 75% of this amount or UAH 87 million was returned to the owners or blocked in the process of investigation.
"Dynamics shows the growth of such crimes, as only in the Q1 2013 was fixed 127 appliccations and the amount of losses accounted for UAH 34.3 million, of which 60% was blocked and 40% returned to 51 customers, "- said L.Timchenko.
