E-commerce takes root in French spending patterns: 45 billion euros in 2102
According to the study published by the FEVAD (The French e-commerce trade association), Internet sales reached 45 billion euros in 2012, up 19% in one year. This increase confirms that sales continue to be strong world wide despite the weak economy. Internet purchases represented 13.1 billion euros in the 4th quarter.
Christmas sales (November and December), which account for 20% of yearly revenue, reached 9 billion euros, 19% higher than Christmas of 2011. The average amount spent per shopper exceeded 500 euros for more than 6 purchases on average, and 1400 euros were spent per shopper per year. The amount of payments on line continued to increase by 24% in 2012.
