EBRD predicts transfer of control over partner countries’ banks to banks of countries outside eurozone
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) forecasts complications in the process of European integration.
Сhief economist Alex Brewer has stated in the prospect it will be more difficult to achieve integration of the importing and exporting countries.
"The integration into the eurozone promises good development for Europe, but for countries outside of the zone these processes may not be so attractive. In this regard, it is necessary a mechanism to maintain the stability of the banking systems," Pivovarsky said.
However, the integration of financial systems will hardly be cloudless.
"It may be an initiative of transfer to the eurozone banks the powers of control over the banks of countries located abroad. This can create problems for countries which integrate into the EU, but have not yet entered in its member ranks, as it will be unknown who will monitor their banks. In this regard, we propose to strengthen the voice of banks from small countries in the EU Banking Council,” Pivovarsky said.
