Belarusian Railways Introducing E-Tickets
Belarusian Railways has launched electronic registration of travelers, media learnt from Belarusian Railways.
At first the company will have a test run of the service starting from 12 September. Passengers travelling by train No. 106/105 Brest-Minsk and No. 117/118 Vitebsk Minsk will be the first to take advantage of electronic registration. Travelers will be able to pay for train tickets online using a banking card.
Before boarding a train, they will be asked to present an ID they used for the online payment. Belarusian Railways also recommended printing out and keeping the itinerary. The online payment can be made not later than one hour before the train departs from the first station.
The passenger transportation service informed that if the innovation is a success, electronic registration will be introduced for all domestic and international routes.
The press service of Belarusian Railways noted that the new service will make trip planning faster and more convenient. Travelers will be able to save time and no longer queue for tickets at railways stations. They will also be able to buy tickets from other localities. They will not have to worry about the loss or damage of their ticket.
