In Q1 2012 52% Ukrainian payment cards were used for cashless payments
In the second quarter of last year is already 52% of Ukrainian payment card used for cashless payment, which is 7% higher than the same period in 2010. This is evidenced by a study of banking services for individuals, conducted by GfK Ukraine.
Сards have become more often used for purchases of goods or paying for services — 26.5% (an increase of 5.4%) and paying for utilities and communications using ATM’s or self-service terminals — an increase of 0.3% to 4.7 %.
Inсreased and the level of usage of Internet banking. However, it still remains at a low level — at the end of 2011 it was used 1.3% Ukrainian, and growth — 0.3%.
As explained by the Head of Financial Research GfK Ukraine Dmytro Yablonovskiy, the low popularity of Internet banking "is related primarily to the fact that Internet uses only about 40% of the population. This is the lowest rate among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe".
