Volume of Card Transactions in Belarus Increased Significantly
In the 2nd quarter of 2012 the total volume of card transactions made by Belarus citizens increased 1.9 times in comparison to the same quarter of 2011, up to 38.3 trn Belarus rubles (4.6 bln US dollars). The amount of cash withdrawal transactions in the 2nd quarter increased 1.8 times, up to 31.134 trn rubles (3.8 bln US dollars).
The volume of transactions related to payments for goods and services and other non-cash transactions went up 2.5 times, up to 7.154 trn rubles (about 863 mln US dollars). As of July 1, 2012 the share of non-cash transactions in the total volume of transactions increased up to 18.7% versus 14.2% a year ago.
The number of cards in circulation in the second quarter of 2012 grew by 0.9%, up to 9.76 mln cards.
